immigration challenges in Europe
A year or two ago, the major immigration issue in Europe was dealing with the influx of African immigrants fleeing violence, instability, and extreme poverty.
Today, those immigrants continue to flee. But added to these are the tens of thousands of Syrians fleeing from the civil war and from Islamic State violence. This is straining the resources of many European countries, and has only increased the potential for culture clashes between historically-Christian Europeans and the incoming refugees, the majority of them Muslims.
It is easy to find up-to-date political cartoons on this issue in any given week. I have provided links to several great cartoon resources at the bottom of my Political Cartoons in Lesson Plans page. When we use very recent resources, it helps our students understand the relevancy of our topics.
